· The RED Show, February 5—March 26, 2011

"Red" is the theme for this Rail Walk artists' group show. Sharon Forthofer, Karen Frazer, Annette Hall, Jane Johnson, Patt Legg, and Marietta Smith will be showing their interpretations of red.

If any month is associated with a color, the month is February and the color is red. Beyond the cupids and hearts, red has some other common connotations: aggression, love, passion, heat, fire, beauty, danger, blood, anger, courage and sacrifice. Red brings conflicting emotions from love to war. Red seems the most emotionally intense color on the artist’s palette. When Rail Walk artists were asked how they felt about the color red, the most common word was warm. Other emotional connotations the artists offered were, daring, sensual, and powerful.
